2020 Candlelight Gala
For 58 years, the Twin Cities Opera Guild has held wonderful evenings of music, food, festivities,
and fellowship, all set to the shimmer of lovely candlelight. T his year will be different, and
we will miss all of you, but we want to encourage you to celebrate with us the wonder of
music and how much a difference music can make in the lives of people, young and old.
Twin Cities Opera Guild has commissioned a special online program from Cantus,
one of our education grant recipients. This music will be available for you to share
with all your friends and family until the end of October. We hope that you will

We appreciate all you have done in the past to help the Twin Cities Opera Guild bring music
to kids – over 128,000 in the last five years. Of course, the need for music programs in school
and through the summer has not gone away – just changed to adapt to the current situation.

The men’s vocal ensemble Cantus, one of only two full-time vocal chamber ensembles in
the country, is widely known for its trademark warmth and blend, innovative programming
and riveting performances of music ranging from the Renaissance to the 21st century. Based
in the Twin Cities, Cantus performs more than 60 concerts each year both in national and
Founded at Saint Olaf College in 1994, they have a strong commitment to preserve
music education in the schools. Cantus works with more than 5,000 students each year
in masterclass and workshop settings across the country. Their Twin Cities High School
Residency Program involves 200 members of three high school choirs each year and has
been the recipient of one of our education grants each year since 2009. Over this twelve
year history, Twin Cities Opera Guild has been a partner to Cantus in their residency
program, providing more than $25,000 of educational grants.
